AICTE, New DelhiAll India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has been established by and Act of Parliament (Act 52 of1987) for proper planning and coordinated and integrated development of technical education and maintenance of standards in the technical education system of the country.
The AICTE is also empowered by the Parliament Act to grant approval for establishment of institutions for conduct of technical courses without prior approval from the AICTE. The AICTE has published a directory of technical institutes approved for the conduct of technical courses and is available at its Head Quarters at New Delhi and its 7 regional offices located at Chandigarh, Kanpur, Kolkata, Bhopal, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.The AICTE approved listof technical institutes and courses are available in the AICTE website at

The AICTE inter alia has also been entrusted with the responsibility of taking appropriate steps to prevent commercialization of technical education at all levels.It has come to the notice of the AICTE that certain institutions have put up advertisements inviting applications for admission to technical courses, which are started without prior approval from the AICTE.
It is illegal to conduct technical courses without statutory approval from the AICTE and appropriate action will be taken against such institutions.
In this regard, the general public is cautioned not to take admission into such unapproved courses, since such courses are not valid for employment in Govt./Govt.aided organsations
