Bank Probationary Officer (Bank PO) Exam
The post of a
Bank Probationary Officer (Bank P.O.) in any bank in India is considered as white color job. To be a Bank PO one needs to qualify in Bank P.O. Examination. Different bank conducts separate examination for Bank P.O. recruitment. As the minimum eligibility criteria to appear in Bank P.O. Exam is graduate degree, candidates from various streams, arts, science, commerce, engineering etc appears in this examination. Numbers of seats are limited and hence securing a seat is really enormous task.
Candidates who get finally selected in Bank P.O. Exam are asked to work on probation for 2 years period. During this period they are asked to do various tasks, like billing, customer service, marketing of bank’s products etc. Basically a Bank P.O. works with all departments of bank so as to get adequate training in banking. After successful completion of probation period a Bank P.O. recruited in the post of Assistant Manager of a bank.
Pay Scale: During probation period a Bank P.O. receives approximately INR 12000/- They are also eligible for various other benefits like D.A., H.R.A., and C.C.A. Etc. as per rules applicable from time to time. In metropolis salary is approximately INR 17000/-
Selection Procedure: Bank P.O. Examination is a 3 step examination.
Step 1- Preliminary Examination- This is 2 Hr Multiple Choice Type / Objective Type test. Questions are asked from following study areas:
- Reasoning Ability Test
- Quantitative Aptitude
- General Awareness/Computer Knowledge
- English Language
Step 2- Candidates who qualifies in Step 1 are called for Step 2, i.e. Mains Examination. Both Multiple Choice Type and Descriptive Type questions are asked from following study areas:
- Test of Reasoning
- Data Analysis and Interpretation
- Marketing Knowledge
- Test of English Language
Note : The Descriptive type examination will be a test of English knowledge - Time 60 Minutes
Step 3 - Group Discussion & Interview: Only for those candidates who find place in merit of Step 2, Mains Examination.
Eligibility Criteria: General Eligibility Criteria for appearing in Bank P.O. Exam are mentioned below:
- Candidate must be India National
- Have a graduate degree recognized from UGC in any stream.
- Must have attained age of 21 years but not completed 30 years of age.
- Knowledge of working with computers.
