How to become a School Teacher



Teaching is a noble profession. Probably very few jobs give you as much satisfaction as that of a teacher. The very thought that you are instrumental in shaping the future of the nation is an extremely satisfactory one.

How do I reach my goal !

Step 1: You can opt for any stream preferably Science and Humanities as opportunities are more for Science and Humanities students.

Step 2: Have to complete 3 years of graduation in any school subject. A graduation with 50% to 55% marks is mandatory.

Step 3: Prepare for your B.Ed entrance exam.

Step 4: If possible, get some teaching experience before appearing for your B.Ed. Many B.Ed colleges prefer students with teaching experience.

Step 5: Obtain your B.Ed degree which is essential for teaching in a school


Do you have it in you


  • High degree of patience especially if you are dealing with young students
  • Coming up with innovative and creative ideas and implementing them in the teaching methods
  • Ability to imbibe right values in children and providing right direction in their careers
  • Ability to become a friend, philosopher and guide to the children

Perks


Freshers are usually paid very less – Rs 10, 000 to Rs 12, 000 per month. Some schools pay even less.

High school and Senior teachers can expect a salary range of Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 per month

  • Ideal for women especially those who are married and have children as teachers have fixed working hours usually form 8am to 2 pm.
  • Students envision you as role model of their life

Cons
  • Relatively low salaries compared to other professions
  • Career stagnation after some years
  • Boredom by teaching same texts year after year
