Difference Between BBA and Integrated BBA Plus MBA

After HSC, students are more often than not confused about choosing one course or the other. They might select a course under peer pressure or haste and it might not be the right decision. One such confusion is between taking up BBA and taking up BBA MBA integrated.

BBA

BBA is a three year undergraduate programme in business administration. The course lays the groundwork to develop business acumen in an individual, inculcate entrepreneurial abilities and act as a launch pad for a successful career in the business environment.

Eligibility Criteria

Though eligibility criteria might differ from one institute to the other, most institutes accept students who have passed 10 2 in any stream and have obtained 50% marks in average.

Scope

A BBA degree can get you an entry level position in an organization, but will not provide you with enough growth opportunities unless you follow it up with an MBA. With a BBA degree, clearing the interview round should be easier, compared to people from other backgrounds. While MBA courses are quite advanced, having your fundamentals clear in subjects like Human Resource Management (HRM), Financial Law and Management Information Systems will help you immensely when you plan to go for an MBA.

Integrated BBA MBA

Integrated BBA MBA is a course designed in such a way that it first builds your concepts in business administration and then as per your interest, you can choose a specialization of your choice. The duration of the course is 5 years. The initial years are spent on developing the basics skills in subjects like Human Resource Management (HRM), Financial Law and Management Information Systems, you select a specialization like marketing, finance or human resource. The specialization boosts your job prospects immensely.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria might differ from one institute to the other, but most institutes accept students who have passed 10 2 in any stream and have obtained 50% marks in average.

Scope

Equipped with an MBA, you will have a lot more opportunities in the job market. Since you will have a specialization in a certain field, you will be given preference over someone with a just a bachelor's degree.

 Word of Caution

If you plan to go for an integrated BBA MBA programme, make sure you do it from an institute of repute. A student who completes his Bachelors in Business Administration from a not so well known institute will still have a chance to pursue an MBA from an institute of repute, which might not be the case with a student who takes up a dual degree course from a not so well known institute.

Difference between BBA and  Integrated BBA MBA

 BBA BBA MBA Integrated
The duration is 3 years. The duration is 4 to 5 years.
Being a single degree course of lesser duration, the fee is relatively less.Being a dual degree course, and of longer duration, the fee is relatively more.
You have an option to work before you finally go in for an MBA. Already equipped with an MBA, you will not have to worry about getting a job in an industry if your choice.
Since there is no specialization in a BBA programme, job opportunities are comparatively lesser. With a specialization in a field like HR, marketing or finance, you will have better job prospects.
After completing your graduation and working in an organization for a year or two, you will have a better understanding of the concepts and will be in a much better position to know about the field of your liking.Since you will be taking up a dual degree course, you will have to take a decision about the specialization of your interest immediately.

AICTE means All India Council for Technical Education. Does it mean all technical courses such as B.Tech, M.Tech, Phd in Engineering need to be AICTE approved? If any of the above course is only UGC approved, will have same validation similar to AICTE approved course? Many Industries such as Tata Motors do not accept UGC approved degrees? They accept only AICTE approved degrees. How we can give them the justification ? Please reply.
