Fire Engineering

Fire Engineering / Fire Prevention Engineering / Fire Safety Engineering / Fire Protection Engineering / Fire Control Engineering involves the technological knowledge to prevent people and property in case of fire breakdown.

Fire which is an integral part of daily living, may occur at any moment, anywhere; homes, shops, workshops, motor vehicles, railways, airports or anywhere.

Fire when expands becomes dangerous and takes form of disasters, and then  services of Fire Safety professionals are called upon.

A person who studies Fire Engineering, including prevention and control is known as Fire Engineer / Fire Services Engineer. All over the world services of a Fire Engineer are considered among top-notch professions as it plays a significant role in saving life and property. This is why Fire Engineering is considered among hot career options in academics.

Fire Engineering is the study discipline, which investigates all possible options of preventing fire and controlling fire in case of a fire breakdown. The reason behind fire breakdown can be any like a loose electric circuit, leakage of a cooking gas cylinder, friction in motor parts etc, exposure of combustible materials to air and so on.

The prevention and control of fire involves use of scientific and engineering know-how in practice, supported by understanding of the causes and effects of fire and the reaction and behavior of people, property and the environment, and the impact of fire protection system including detection, alarm and sprinkler system.

Fire Engineering profession demands commitments to public services leaving aside the personal safety. The profession is very much lucrative, well paying but involves huge personal risk too.

The role of a Fire Engineer includes engineering design for fire safety and control, operations and management. Fire Engineer work in shifts in highly dangerous conditions and always at risk of exposure to chemicals, burns and smoke inhalation.

They need to be disciplined, quick in action, reliable, leveraged with confidence and full of energy. At the same time they also need to know about fire fighting, different types of fires and how to prevent and control them, and about rescue methods and equipments in case of a fire breakdown.

The principle responsibility of a fire engineer involves reducing the impact of fire in case of a fire breakdown. Fire Engineers are responsible to improve fire fighting techniques and equipments.
