The combined medical service examination consists of the following examination pattern:

Stage I: Written Examination (Objective type)
Stage II: Personality Test

Written Examination	Paper I	General Medicine including Cardiology, Neurology, Dermatology and Psychiatry	60%	200
	Paper I	Surgery including ENT, Ophthalmology, Traumatology,and Orthopaedics	40%	200
	Paper II	Paediatrics	20%	200
		Gynaecology and Obstetrics	40%
		Preventive, Social and Community Medicine	40%
Total Marks	Paper I & II			400
Personality Test		The interview for Personality Test will be intended to serve as a supplement to the written examination for testing the General Knowledge and ability of the candidates in the fields of their academic study and also in the nature of a personality test to assess the candidate’s intellectual curiosity, critical powers of assimilation, balance of judgement and alertness of mind, ability for social cohesion, integrity of character, initiative and capability for leadership.		200
