The St. Xavier’s College, Calcutta was established in 1860 by the Belgian Jesuits, an international group of Jesuits commissioned by the English Jesuit Province landed in Calcutta to look after the interests of the Catholics. Since its inception, the college has achieved various levels of success in offering quality education to the people of the nation. The college now holds a position in the top ten colleges of the country for commerce education. The Department of Commerce was established in 1946. The three year course was introduced in 1960 and the Honours course in 1963. The Commerce Department functions from 6.00 am to 9.40 am. It is only for boys.
Eligibility: An applicant for B. Com. (Honours) with 45% in the aggregate (5 recognized subjects) having Mathematics or Economics or Accountancy or any subject related to commerce is eligible for admission.
For B. Com. (General - 3 years), any class 12 passed with five recognised subject
