St. Xavier’s College, affiliated to the University of Mumbai, is one of the reputed colleges for commerce education in India. The college has been named after St. Francis Xavier, a Jesuit saint of the 16th Century who traveled to India. It was founded by the Society of Jesus, a Christian Religious Group started by St. Ignatius of Loyola in 1540. The Department of Commerce was established in 1984. It offers only undergraduate program in Commerce i.e. B.Com and one professional program i.e. BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies). The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of UGC has conferred the 5 star status (A+) to this college owing to its academic excellence and also for spreading higher education in the country.

Seats: There are all total of 240 seats in B.Com out of which 50% seats are reserved for Minority (Christians), 3% for special category and 25% for reserved category (SC/ST etc); the remaining seats are available for unreserved category students. There are 60 seats available for BMS course.
