IMPORTANT :
The entrance for
(1) MPhil in Computational Linguistics
(2) PG Diploma in Computational Linguistics
(3) Post BSc. Dual Degree (B.Tech. CSE + MS by Research in Computational Natural Sciences)
(4) MSIT (Master of Science in Information Technology)

will NOT be through PG Entrance Examination (PGEE).

For the Computational Linguistics Program, the applications will be through the PG Portal.
For the Post Bsc. and MSIT Programs, the applications will NOT be through the PG portal either.



Examination Pattern

The Post Graduate and PhD Entrance Examination - PGEE consists of two papers

Paper I - General Aptitude (The question in this section may consists of Mathematics, Programming and Logical Reasoning).

Paper II - Subject Test (This section is meant for checking the knowledge of a candidate in relevant discipline.)

Computational Linguistics

Computational Linguistics exam will be conducted in late June at IIIT Hyderabad. This test is for students of linguistics and languages background. They do not have to take the entrance test on aptitude and programming etc.

Entrance Test

The entrance test for Ph.D in Computational Linguistics is conducted separately for students with backgrounds in Linguistics, Languages, and other branches of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The entrance test has two levels:

a. written test

b. interview [for those who have qualified the written test]

The test paper contains three sections - Section A, Section B and Section C.

Section A is compulsory for all the students.

Section B is for those students who have a background in Linguistics

Section C is for students who have no background in Linguistics


All the students must attempt only two sections i.e., Section A, and

either section B or C depending on their background.
