Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University Distance Education
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University (BAOU), Gujarat was established in 1994 according to the act 14 of 1994 passed by Gujarat State Legislature and signed by Governor of Gujarat.
The University offers 38 programs and is having its headquarters located at Ahmedabad. The University is having a well established regional centre on the campus of South Gujarat University at Rajkot. The University is now in a process to establish the regional centre on the campus of North Gujarat University at Patan.
The Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University (BAOU) has more than 250 study centres and is open to all persons irrespective of classes, castes, creed, religion or sex. Courses offered by BAOU Gujarat are approved from statutory bodies like
University Grants Commission (UGC) etc and treated as equivalent to regular programs of any other recognized institution.
