Bharathidasan University CDE Tamil Nadu

Bharathidasan University was established in February 1982 in memory of the great revolutionary Tamil Poet, Bharathidasan (1891-1968). The varsity besides having disciplines of liberal Arts and Basic Sciences, it has a School of Engineering & Technology, Department of Pharmacy, School of Bio-Medical Sciences, Institute of Management, Department of Education Technology, among others. There are in total 16 Schools and 47 Departments and Centres.

It has several affiliated colleges which offer UG and PG programs and few offers M.Phil./Ph.D programs. The programs offered through affiliated colleges are so diversified that they number more than 250. The student strength in the affiliated colleges is over 1.40 lakhs.

CDE - Centre For Distance Education

Centre for Distance Education (CDE), Bharathidasan University was established in the year 1992 to fulfill the need of the students of the southern states who could not enter the regular colleges for higher studies.

The Centre, at present, offers as many as 66 programs including 14 UG, 24 PG, 7 Diploma / PG Diploma and M.Phil programs in select disciplines. MCA and MBA programs are the most sought after courses of the centre.

The Centre for Distance Education conducts the theory and practical classes on Saturdays and Sundays. The programs are monitored by the Centre for Distance Education Staff and the Director through regular visit to the Personal Contact Program (PCP) Centres located all over the country. The study materials are also given to the students regularly in tune with the every revision in the syllabi.
