The NIMCET is a National Level Entrance Test conducted by National Institutes of Technology - NITs for admission to Master of Computer Application - MCA course offered at different NITs. The duration of course is 6 semesters / 3 years. The first common admission test NIMCET was conducted in 2005. About 13,000 candidates appeared for NIMCET-05 for 420 seats available in NITs. The admission to first year of MCA programme offered by all the NITs for the year 2009-10 will be based on the Rank obtained in NIMCET09 only.
Indian Nationals having minimum 60% aggregate marks (6.5/10 CGPA) in each of the examinations of
(i) 12th level and
(ii) Bachelor’s Degree of Full Time 3 year duration from a recognized University with Mathematics/Statistics/Business Mathematics as one of the subjects in any one semester/year in all the above (i) and (ii) mentioned courses, are eligible to apply.
SC/ST Candidates with minimum 55% aggregate marks (6.0/10 CGPA) are eligible.
The candidates who are appearing for the qualifying examination are also eligible to appear for NIMCET. Such candidates shall have to furnish the proof of fulfilling the eligibility criteria of NIMCET preferably at the time of Counseling/Admission but not later than 31st July of the year of NIMCET, failing which, their admission may be cancelled by the respective NITs.
