RGIIM is likely to commence its first academic session from June 2008 in the temporary accommodation of Mayurbhanj Complex in Nongthymmai, which previously housed North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU). The building has been renovated by the state government for the purpose. The Government of Meghalaya has provided land of about 120 acres, free of cost for permanent campus of RGIIM at Shillong.
