IIT Bhubaneshwar

Introduction

Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar is the first among the eight new IITs to become operational. The Institute with 40 students each in the disciplines of Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering started running from its mentor institute campus at IIT Kharagpur from 23 July, 2008. The Government of Orissa has provided 935 acres of land at Arugul near Jatni Railway Station for IIT Bhubaneswar. IIT Kharagpur, one of the largest IITs is its mentor.

Schools of IIT Bhubaneshwar

School of Basic Sciences
This school plans to offer integrated M.Sc-Ph.D program and Ph.D program in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. In its pipeline is also the plan to offer M.Tech program in Nanoscience and postdoctoral program basic sciences to encourage researchers and scientists to shape their career in academics and industries.

School of Electrical Sciences
The School of Electrical Sciences lays stress on areas like Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Science and Knowledge Engineering.

School of Infrastructure
it is offering B. Tech. and Ph.D. programs in Civil Engineering. Programs in other disciplines of engineering will also be offered shortly.

School of Mechanical Sciences
The School of Mechanical Sciences Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar  currently offers B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering.

School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Management
IIT Bhubaneshwar also encourages creative thinking powers besides technical expertise. The School aims to nurture the creative faculties of its students.

Admission
IIT Bhubaneshwar offers admission to all the programs on the basis of All India Rank (AIR) in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). For details, click here.
