Forest Management



Forest management was meant for regeneration and conservation of natural resources. Forest management is the practical application of scientific, economic and social principles to the administration of a forest estate for specified objectives. Forest management involves the control of composition and the structure of the growing stock; harvesting and marketing of forest produce/ products; and administration of forest property and personnel. During the time of education students undertake projects for client organisations in various functional areas such as finance, project formulation, production, personnel managements, marketing, technical forestry, MIS, GIS, natural resource management, wasteland development, eco-development, extension, transfer of technology and many other areas related to the corporate and development sectors.

There is immense scope for forest management students in India. A forest management certificate holder can get suitable job in NGOs, various world bodies, corporate sector, public sector and so on. After joining the job they are involved with programme like Conservation and management of eco-systems, participatory, community and social management and rehabilitation of natural forests, wastelands and plantations.
