Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBMIS) is the main management institute of the University of Mumbai. The University of Mumbai in collaboration with the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University established JBIMS in 1965, its stated objectives being the pioneering and furthering of postgraduate management education in India. Asia Inc. has ranked it amongst the top 25 business schools in the Asia-Pacific region.
The vision that has inspired the basic philosophy and approach of JBIMS since its inception is that of management thinkers and philosophers deeply entrenched and firmly rooted in the Indian soil.
The Bombay Management Association gave the institute their "Best Management Institute of the Year Award" for the year 1999 and 2000.
In the contemporary era, where Globalization and Liberalization are the buzz words, the Institute has, without disturbing the said roots ordered itself to meet the emerging challenges, sentiments and opportunities that are going to present themselves on account of the new economic order.

Admission Procedures
- For MMS:
All candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria have to undergo a 3-tier selection
procedure consisting of a Common Entrance Test (CET), a Group Discussion (GD) and a Personal Interview (PI).
The CET is a multiple-choice objective test evaluating the aptitude in verbal ability, quantitative aptitude, logic, visual reasoning, reading comprehension and data interpretation.
This test is then followed by a GD and PI, which carry a significant role in the entire selection process.
- For Part-time Courses:
All candidates satisfying the eligibility criteria have to appear for a Common Written Test (CWT), followed by a Group Discussion (GD).
The CWT is a multiple-choice objective test evaluating the aptitude in verbal ability, quantitative aptitude, logic, visual reasoning, reading comprehension and data interpretation.
The candidate is evaluated based on his performance in both the Common Written Test and Group Discussion.
Eligibility
- For MMS:
A candidate who has either passed with minimum 50% of marks in the aggregate (45% in case of candidates domiciled in Maharashtra and belonging to the Reserved Categories) or appeared at the Final Year Examination of a post 10 + 2 course of minimum three years duration leading to an award of a Bachelor’s Degree, in any discipline of a Statutory University in India (so recognized by the Association of Indian Universities) or has passed with minimum 50% of marks in the aggregate (45% in case of candidates domiciled in Maharashtra and belonging to the Reserved Categories ) or appeared at an examination considered equivalent thereto would be treated as eligible for Common Entrance Test (CET).
- For Part-Time Courses:
A candidate should have passed a Bachelor’s degree examination in any faculty of Mumbai University or an examination recognized by the University as equivalent thereto.
Passed the Graduate Examination in Industrial Engineering and who have subsequently qualified in the G.A.T.E examination conducted by Government of India through I.I.T. will be considered eligible for admission to the Part time degree courses.
Acquired a minimum two years work experience (Supervisory / Executive), the experience being counted from the day subsequent to the last day of the qualifying examination passed by the candidate.
