Master Degrees in Mass Communication Studies

Masters programme in Mass communication is of two years duration. The course equips student with not just one stream but with a holistic knowledge of the all the medias. Whether its journalism or corporate communication, audio-video production or radio production, a student learns every thing in it. The two-year course is a blend of theory and practical.

Usually the first term consist of six subjects -
  1. Communication theory/research and evaluation
  2. Visual Communication
  3. Sound for the media
  4. Traditional entertainment
  5. Audio video production and still photography
  6. Radio production

The subjects which are taken up in the second semester are usually Video and television production, Film production and Media appreciation. A student is also familiarized with the web media. To take up MA in mass communication; a student is needed to be atleast a graduate with 50 percent marks from any stream.

The universities and institutes offering courses in mass communication at post-graduation level are few. AJK Mass communication Research Centre of Jamia Milia Islamia University and Symbioisis Institute of Mass communication are the prominent institutes that offers masters in this course among other universities. But they have limited seats. To select the best candidates, universities conduct written examination. A shortlisted student is asked to appear for the interview, which is the basis of his final selection. Post graduation in Mass Communication empower students with the ability to exploit the media to full extent.
