Presidency College, Chennai is considered to be one of the most prestigious colleges in the country for higher education. The college was established by Thiru Eyre Burton Powell in the year 1840. The college has been affiliated to University of Madras and is located just opposite to one of the famous landmark Marina, which is the second longest beach in the world.
Presidency College, Chennai enjoys the autonomy status conferred by the University Grants Commission in 1987. It has since been possible for the College to attempt limited curricular and examination reforms to make education meaningful and up-to-date.
