Like most countries, in Canada too, accommodation is a major area of concern among students wanting to study abroad. Most universities offer on campus accommodation but since they are limited you have to brace yourself for off campus accommodation. The different types of accommodation that you can get in Canada as a student are:
DormitoryLiving in dormitories is one of the cheapest options for students in Canada. Most schools have accommodation located on or near their campus. Dormitories usually have shared kitchens, toilets, and laundry facilities. You can opt for either a shared or private room, and dormitories are usually separated by gender. In some cases, there are cafeterias and meal plans that can be included in the cost of the room. Most dormitories come furnished, and are an ideal way to become involved in campus activities and meet other students.
Average cost of residence/dormitory rooms: $3,000 - $7,500 CDN per school year. For more information, contact the school you will be attending.
Home StaysA good and effective way to learn about Canadian people, its life and culture is by opting for a home stay. Many Canadian families welcome international students. Staying with a family gives you a secured and comfortable life. Host families usually provide you with meals and a private and furnished room. However, you need to be careful whil choosing a home stay. Average cost of home stay accommodation: $400 - $800 CDN per month.
Off-Campus HousingRenting is the most common option for international students. However, you have to do an extensive research to get the best possible deal in terms of quality and price. Many students share accommodation to keep costs down and usually find places to meet their needs and preferences. Off campus housing information is also provided by student associations within the college. You can get alerts on your phones, postings on notice boards, word of month, local newspapers and campus advertisements.
There are different types of places you can rent as an international student. A house is usually too expensive for one student to rent, but many students share or rent suites (a self-contained unit with a kitchen, toilet, bath and bedroom) within a larger home.
Apartments are another option, where one has a kitchen, toilet, bath, and one or two bedrooms. Most rental apartments do not include furniture or meals. Some, however, include the cost of heat and/or electricity in the rent. Most landlords require a damage deposit and rent is paid on a monthly basis in cash or by cheque.

Hi. I am currently a student of 6th semester 5 years course. (B.A.LLB.) as well as pursuing CS. I wish to pursue L.L.M. in Company Laws from Canada after completion of my graduation course. What exams/ entrance tests am I required to give and which are the best universities for the same. Also how would this help me in future if I wish to enter in "employment" in some Indian Law Firm or an MNC?
