The Great Wall, Beijing

If one gets the opportunity to visit Beijing, the Great Wall of China is a must-visit destination. It was built during the Ming Dynasty, and it is the world's longest human-made structure.  The Great Wall of China is truly one of the most spectacular structures in to behold.

The Forbidden City, Beijing

The Forbidden City of Beijing was the imperial palace for the twenty four emperors who ruled in the mid to later Ming and the Qing Dynasties. Located in Beijing, the Forbidden City was classified by UNESCO, as the world’s largest collection of preserved wood-based structures.  Presently, it is named as the Palace Museum.  It was also declared as a World Heritage Site in 1987.  The Forbidden City confines an astounding 980 buildings and 8,707 rooms.

The Bund, Shanghai

The Bund is situated in the Huangpu District in central Shanghai in the Poeple's Republic of China. It runs along the western bank of the. It is a popular tourist destination.  A variety of architectural buildings surrounding the Huangpu River, can be seen. A mile away, one can see fifty-two buildings incorporating many architectural styles, such as Renaissance, Romanesque, Gothic, Beaux-Arts, Neo-Classical, Baroque, and Art Deco.

Terra Cotta Warriors, Xi'an

The Terra Cotta figures were discovered in 1974 by local farmers in a place near Xi’an. The figures vary in height (184-197cm / 6ft-6ft 5in), according to their role in the army, the tallest being the Generals. It is a form of funerary art (any work of art form placed in storage for the remains of the dead).  An army group made from terracotta was buried along with the deceased ruling emperor in 210-209 BC. The sole purpose of constructing the terracotta army group was to help the emperor protect the empire after his death.
