  • LEMBAH Bujang is believed to be the location of an old Malay. Langkasuka empire holding the remains which are estimated to around 1,5oo years old.
  • On February 20, 1956, Tunku Abdul Rahman announced the date of Malaya’s independence at Padang Pahlawan in Bandar Hilir, Malacca.
  • During the Indonesian Confrontation, Malaysia experimented with national service in 1962. Youths between 21 and 28 were eligible for a two-year call-up.
  • The most senior federal title is ‘Tun’ and there cannot be more than 25 living recipients at a time.
  • Sarawak Chamber in Gunung Mulu National Park in Sarawak, is the largest cave chamber in the world.
  • Wang Kelias in Perlis is the only village in the world where large scale tin mining was conducted.
  • St. George Church in Penang was built in 1918 which is the oldest Anglican Church in Southeast Asia.
  • Kuala Lumpur tower is the tallest tower in the entire south East Asia and fourth tallest tower in the world. It is 421 meters high.
  • Sabah houses the largest flower in the world, Rafflesia.
  • The southern most tip of continental Asia is Tanjung Piai in southern Johor.
  • Malaysia has the lowest death rate of respiratory diseases as Qatar, i.e., 7.5 deaths per 100000 people per annum.
  • On September 16, 1963, the Malaysian flag was adopted. It was designed by Mohamed Hamzah. He was an public works department architect who entered a competition with two of his designs.
  • Malaysia has a highway of 65,877 kms which exceeds the Earth’s circumference of 40,075 kms.
  • Sabah and Sarawak consists of more than 60 sub-ethnic groups.
