British Chevening Scholarship
The Chevening India Programme is the UK's second largest scholarship programme globally. The Chevening scholarship has given wonderful opportunity to over 1800 Indians to study in Britain and become leaders in their chosen field. The Chevening India Scholarship offers exceptional Indians the opportunity to undertake postgraduate study at leading universities in the UK. The selection of the candidates is carried on by the British Embassies and High Commissions in consultation with the local British Council director. The Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarships 2010
In honour of Dr Singh, St John’s College, the University of Cambridge launched the Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarships in Delhi in 2007. He is a graduate and Honorary Fellow of St John’s College. These awards will help academically brilliant Indian students to come to St. John’s College, University of Cambridge to study for doctoral degrees in subjects like Science & Technology, Economics and Social Sciences. The award is fully funded and covers:

  • Academic fees
  • International airfare
  • Monthly stipend to cover living expenses
  • UK Visa

Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships

This is an annual scheme made available to all Commonwealth countries by the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission. The India programme is managed jointly by the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU, UK); Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India and the British Council. This is award instituted for students wanting to do Master's/M.Phil/ PhD/ six-months clinical training/Fellowship programs in the UK universities. For details, you can click here.

Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme
This scholarship scheme is funded jointly by the Department for International Development and participating universities in the UK. This scholarship is awarded to exceptionally bright students from developing Commonwealth countries who wish to pursue higher education in the UK for the development of their home country.

Charles Wallace India Trust
The Charles Wallace India Trust is an arts, heritage conservation and humanities scholarship fund. So, if you are interested to nurture your artistic skills and concentrate on research in any of the leading UK universities, Charles Wallace India Trust may help. For details, click here.

Sir Ratan Tata Scholarship

The Sir Ratan Tata Trust, Mumbai, offers one-year scholarships at the Masters' level for students who want to study in the U.K. in the broad field of Development Studies, with special focus on Development Economics and Science & Technology Studies. Points to Remember
  • You must apply for your grant at least one year before your course starts; deadlines vary, so you must check that you know what the deadline is before applying your application should be clear and concise;

  • You should use the grant-making body’s application form if it has one

  • The majority of the grant-making bodies will give only small amounts of money, which will not cover the full cost of a course.






De Souza Trust Goa Scholarship
The De Souza Trust Goa Scholarship funded from the estate of Mr. Diego Frank de Souza aims to provide financial assistance for self-motivated dynamic young people of Goan origin or born of Goan parents to study or train in the UK. Since the institution of the scholarship many young Goan students have studied in fields as diverse as Architecture, Media Management, TV documentary, Computing & Design,  Music Therapy, Fashion Technology, Architectural Conservation and Human Rights. The Scotland Saltire Scholarships
Under this scholarship scheme you can achieve a Masters degree from one of the UK’s top-ranked research universities. Applications from bright individuals are invited for September 2010 and October 2010 to study and live in Scotland. For details, click here.

Rhodes Scholarship
A Rhodes Scholarship is only for study at the University of Oxford. Though it is awarded for two years, it is held only for one year depending upon the course of study. A Rhodes Scholarship covers approved university and college fees and other charges for which payment is made directly to the Scholar’s college. It also covers living expenses enough for a Scholar to meet the necessary expenses for term-time and vacations. The Trust will also meet the cost of a Scholar’s air travel, economy class, to the United Kingdom and of return to India on completion of studies at Oxford.

    can i straightaway work in india and my degree will be recognized by the BCI if i do Three Years’ LL.B. course followed immediately by 1 year whole time LPC/BVC and followed by a contract of service with a Law Firm for two yearsOR Four Years’ of LLB jointly with another subject like Finance, Accounts, Management or a Language to be immediately followed by one year full time LPC/BVC from a College of Inns of courts/ Solicitors Society or a Master degree in Law. which all universties offer such course in UK?
