Secondary School Teachers

The secondary school teachers specialize in one or two subjects and teach that subject to all age groups in junior and senior school. They see each class for only that particular subject and the emphasis is on imparting knowledge of the subject, besides preparing the student for the Xth and XIIth class Board examinations. These teachers play an important role in the overall personality development of the student.

The teacher is involved in a number of activities, such as gathering instructional material; preparing the lessons; preparation and evaluation of tests and examinations; keeping record of students performance; attending faculty meetings and parents teacher meetings; and suggesting curriculum changes.

In addition to the classroom teaching the secondary and senior secondary teachers have to supervise extra curricular activities such as sports, elocution, dramatics, social educational programs and school outings. They also need to attend refresher courses to enhance and evaluate their knowledge and teaching techniques.
