Universities in India

Down the years, the Indian society stood for a greater emphasis on education. Looking back at the past 60 years we can surely say that India has strengthened its higher education system by leaps and bounds. India’s rapid progress is evident from the fact that as of now the whole of Indian education scenario consists of 25 Central Universities, 231 State Universities, 23 Private Universities and 103 Deemed Universities.

The Indian government is further assisted by Separate Ministry of Human Resource and Management (MHRD) which is responsible for supervising the functioning of all the universities in India through its chief regulatory body- Universities Grants Commission (UGC). The other government organizations whose contribution for the upliftment of Indian educational scenario is worth mentioning are All India Council for Technical Education AICTE and National Assessment and Accreditation Council-NAAC.

With a view to bring in all the Indian Universities under one umbrella where the maximum possible information about these universities could be disseminated to the educational community all over the world - the National Network of Education has launched the Universities Hub. To put it briefly, this is envisaged to be an encyclopedia of all the Indian Universities.
