AIPMT 2016 Eligibility Criteria

The complete details of the eligibility criteria in order to appear for the medical entrance exam, All India Pre-Medical/ Pre-Dental Entrance Test (AIPMT 2016):

1) Eligibility criteria for 15% All India Quota Seats  

You should have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Bio-technology and English individually and also have scored at least 50% aggregate [45% for Gen-PH and 40% for SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH] in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology taken together in your qualifying examination

(i) You should have completed 17 years at the time of admission or you will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year your admission to the 1st year MBBS/ BDS Course. You must be an Indian national.

(ii) The upper age limit is 25 years as on 31st December of the year of the medical entrance examination. This upper age limit can be relaxed by a period of 5 years for Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes’ candidates. Such candidate must born on or between:
(a) 1 Jan, 1986 to 1 Jan, 1999 (SC/ST/OBC Category)
(b) 1 Jan, 1991 to 1 Jan, 1999 (Other Category)

(iii) Candidates from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and J&K:
(a) You are NOT ELIGIBLE for 15% all India quota seats if you’re from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana or J&K as these states had opted out of All India Scheme since its inception. If you claim eligibility, you must submit an affidavit, in original, as per proforma given in Appendix – II, on non-judicial Stamp Paper of Rs 10/- duly sworn in before and attested by a Metropolitan Magistrate/First Class Judicial Magistrate stating that:

  • You are not eligible to seek admission to MBBS/ BDS seats in medical/ dental colleges in the states of Andhra Pradesh and J&K.
  • You are not domiciled in Andhra Pradesh and J&K.

(b) Applications not accompanied with the required scanned affidavits as per format given at Appendix – II or accompanied with incomplete, unattested or photocopy of the affidavit shall be summarily rejected without any further reference in the matter. The affidavits submitted by such candidates will be verified and if found to be false, the admission of all such candidates shall be cancelled and criminal proceedings may be initiated against them.  
(c) However you can appear for AIPMT for admission to AFMC, Pune.


2) Eligibility criteria for seats under control of participating States/ Universities/ Institutions and AFMC

a. You should have completed 17 years at the time of admission or you will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of your admission to the 1st year MBBS/ BDS Course. You must be an Indian national.
b. If you’re an overseas Citizen of India (OCI), you may also appear for AIPMT for admission to seats under the control of participating States/Universities/Institutions; but you’ll be subject to rules and regulations of the Government of India, respective State Governments and the University/Institution concerned. Therefore, you must verify the eligibility norms of the participating States/Universities/Institutions before applying for AIPMT 2016.  
c. The upper age limit shall be as per the rules and regulations of the participating States/Universities/Institutions.
d. Candidates from Jammu & Kashmir and Andhra Pradesh can appear in AIPMT for admission to AFMC, Pune.
