Apply before 19 June for the Preliminary Exam of UPSC Civil Services Examinations, 2015

Eligible aspirants should apply soon for the Preliminary Examination which will be conducted on 23 August, 2015 by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for selection of candidates who will finally write the Civil Services Main Examination, 2015.

The main examination is expected to be held on 18 December, 2015. This year there are approximately 1,129 vacancies in various public services that need to be filled up by candidates who clear the Civil Services Main exam (written & interview.)  Please keep checking our exam alerts section for regular updates on the Main exam for 2015.

Important dates

  • Online application for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam 2015 available: 23 May - 19 June, 2015 (up to 11:59 p.m.)
  • Date of the exam: 23 August, 2015
  • e-Admit cards available online: 3 weeks before the exam

How to apply

Interested candidates can apply online for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Exams 2015 by filling up the detailed online application form at www.upsconline.nic.in. Please note that candidates applying for the Indian Forest Service Examination also have to fill this same common application form. Make sure you carefully go through the instructions for filling out the application.

The application fee is Rs. 100. All female candidates and Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/ Physically Handicapped category candidates don't need to pay the fee. This free application does not apply to Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates.

The application is free for physically disabled candidates as well, provided that they fulfill the eligibility criteria for medical fitness for appointment to various posts/services.

Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam Pattern 2015

The Civil Service Prelims 2015, which is essentially a screening test to qualify for the Civil Services Main Exam 2015, will have two papers, both objective in nature with multiple choice questions (MCQs). Each paper is 200 marks each and has two hours allotted. Find out more details of the exam pattern.
