Apply before 13 April, 2014 for SET 2014 for admission to under graduate programs offered by various colleges that are part of Symbiosis. The Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) 2014 is a written exam that evaluates candidates for admission to under graduate programs at Symbiosis International University's (SIU) institutes. SIU has a variety of institutes for different courses of study, each with their own process of selection.


Programmes

SET 2014 evaluates candidates for admission to the following programmes or programs, listed by applicable paper and relevant institutes:
•    Design: Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) courses at Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID)
•    Law: B.A. Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), BBA LL.B. at Symbiosis Law School (SLS) Pune and SLS Noida
•    General: Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and Bachelor of Business Administration Information Technology (BBA - IT) at Symbiosis Institute of Computers Studies and Research (SICSR)
      Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies [SCMS] – Pune and Symbiosis Centre for   Management Studies [SCMS] - Noida
      Bachelor of Media Studies (BMS) at Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication (SIMC-UG)

Important dates

•    Online registration closes: 13 April, 2014
•    Payment closes on: 16 April, 2014
•    SET 2014 admit card available: 21 April - 3 May, 2014
•    SET 2014 Test Date: 3 May, 2014
•    SET Result Date: 19 May, 2014

Each institute has a different admission process, which means differing cutoffs and wait-listing criteria. Personal interviews or Group Exercise may be required, in addition to other steps (Eg: for SID, a Studio Test is held after SET and personal interviews).




Eligibility criteria

Eligibility varies according to institute and specific degree programme, but eligibility is generally passing of the 12th standard from a recognized board with 45 to 60 % minimum marks for general category candidates (minimum varies by institute) and 40 to 55 percent minimum marks for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes category. Candidates who are foreign nationals, Non-resident Indians (NRIs) or Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) may apply. Age limits apply to some institutes. B.Sc. students must also be medically fit. Depending on the course, a pass in certain subjects is needed.


Exam pattern

SET has five different papers: Design, Engineering, General, Health Sciences and Law. The Law and Design papers are scheduled for the morning session (9.30 a.m. - 12 noon) and the General, Engineering and Health Sciences papers are scheduled for the afternoon session (2.30 p.m. - 5 p.m.)

You  may only take one paper for the morning session and one for the afternoon session. This means that candidates may take only one or two papers in all.

Time allotted for the objective test is 150 minutes. Questions have four possible answers. Negative marking is not used. All sections of the test are compulsory.


Law (Courses offered: B.A.LL.B and B.B.A.LL.B)

•    Logical Reasoning: 30 questions, 30 marks
•    Legal Reasoning: 30 questions, 30 marks
•    Analytical Reasoning: 30 questions, 30 marks
•    Reading Comprehension: 30 questions, 30 marks
•    General Knowledge: 30 questions, 30 marks
•    Total: 150 questions, 150 marks


Design (Courses offered: B. Des.in Communication Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Communication, Fashion Design & Textile Design)

•    Design Aptitude: 150 questions, 150 marks
•    Total: 100 questions, 100 marks


Health Sciences (Courses offered: B.Sc. (Nursing) and B.Sc. (Medical Technology) in Cardiac Care, Dialysis, Respiratory Therapy, Imaging Science, Clinical Lab, Operation Theatre and Anesthesia Technology)

•    Physics: 25 questions, 50 marks
•    Chemistry: 25 questions, 50 marks
•    Biology: 50 questions, 100 marks
•    Total: 100 questions, 200 marks

Engineering (Courses offered: B. Tech. Computer Science, Electronics & Telecommunications, Information Technology, Mechanical, Civil)

•    Physics: 25 questions, 50 marks
•    Chemistry: 25 questions, 50 marks
•    Mathematics: 50 questions, 100 marks
•    Total: 100 questions, 200 marks


General (Courses offered: BCA, BBA (IT), BBA, BMS, B.Sc.(Eco), B.A – Liberal Arts, B.Sc - Liberal Arts)

•    General English: 40 questions, 40 marks
•    Quantitative: 40 questions, 40 marks
•    General Awareness: 40 questions, 40 marks
•    Analytical and Logical Reasoning: 30 questions, 30 marks
•    Total: 150 questions, 150 marks

Application procedure

You must register for the test online at set-test.org. The fee to take SET 2014 is Rs. 1500. You will need to register for one or two papers, upload a photograph and follow instructions for fee payment. Fee payment can be submitted by cash, demand draft, online by credit card, or online through net banking. The next step in the process is to apply to the institute you're interested in attending and also pay a separate institute registration fee. This can be done through the SET website or through the institute webiste. Before applying to a particular institute, make sure to register for the appropriate paper - for example, if you are applying to SID, register to take the Design paper in the afternoon session.


The admit card for the test is available starting 21 April till 3 May, 2014. Duplicate cards are not available in the event of a lost admit card.
