DU South Campus PG Courses Admission Notification 2013-14

The University of Delhi (DU), South Campus has issued an admission notice for the academic session 2013 to 2014 for postgraduate degrees. The admissions will be completed strictly on the basis of the entrance examination for various postgraduate disciplines. Programmes include Master of Arts (M.A.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) courses.

Programmes and important dates

M.A. programmes: Students may seek admission for the following M.A. programmes in at South Campus of Delhi University. All of them will give an M.A. degree. Registration will be done in the Delhi University South Campus and North Campus for differentiated subjects (see details below), between 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the specified dates, except for Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

  • M.A. Applied Psychology: Registration - 13 June to 28 June; entrance test - 2 July 2013, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • M.A. Hindi Cat A: Registration - 8 May to 22 May 2013; entrance test date not applicable
  • M.A. Hindi Cat B: Registration - 8 May to 22 May; entrance test - 2 June 2013, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • M.A. Direct Cat A Sanskrit: Registration - 3 June to 21 June; entrance test not declared
  • M.A. Cat B Sanskrit: Registration - 3 June to 21 June; entrance test - 3 July 2013
  • M.A. History Direct Cat A: Registration - 20 May to 3 June; entrance test not applicable
  • M.A. History Cat B: Registration - 20 May to 3 June; entrance exam 15 June 2013
  • M.A. Political Science Direct Cat A: Registration date - 4 June to 20 June; entrance test not applicable

  • M.A. Mathematics Direct Cat A: Registration - 6 May to 24 May; entrance test not applicable

  • M.A. A.O.R: Registration - 29 April to 24 May; entrance test - 16 June 2013

M.Sc. programmes: Students may apply for admission to the following M.Sc. programmes from South Campus, University of Delhi. Apart from the programme for M.Sc. Microwave Electronics that will give an M.Tech. degree, after successfully completing all requirements, students will be called an M.Sc. degree holder in the respective subject.

  • M.Sc. Genetics: Registration - 27 May to 27 June; entrance test on 3 July 2013, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • M.Sc. Electronics Direct Cat A: Registration - 3 June to 28 June; entrance test not applicable
  • M.Sc. Electronics Cat B: Registration - 3 June to 28 June; entrance test - 10 July, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • M.Sc. Informatics: Registration - 22 April to 13 May by post, 22 April to 22 May by counter; entrance test - 9 June 2013
  • M.Sc. Microwave Electronics: Registration - 3 June to 28 June; entrance test on 6 July 2013, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • M.Sc. Plant Molecular Biology & Biotechnology: Registration - 1 June to 15 June; entrance test on 1 July 2013, 10 a.m- 12 p.m.
  • M.Sc. Microbiology: Registration - 3 June to 25 June; entrance test not applicable
  • M.Sc. Biochemistry: Registration - 3 June to 25 June; entrance test not applicable
  • M.Sc. A.O.R.: Registration - 29 April to 24 May; entrance test - 16 June 2013

Exam pattern and syllabus

The theory test will include objective questions based on the undergraduate syllabus of individual subjects, followed by an interview and group discussion. The theory-based entrance test which will carry a 70 percent weightage, the interview will carry 20 percent and group discussion will carry 10 percent weightage during final selection.

Eligibility

For M.A. programs, candidates need to have the cutoff marks specified in undergraduate degree courses from Delhi University or any other recognised university. For example, this year, those students who want to join the M.A. Applied Psychology programme must have either a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Honours degree with a 55 percent aggregate, B.A. pass degree with 55 percent aggregate or other B.A. course with 60 percent or above aggregate from the University of Delhi or other recognised University. For the M.Sc., candidates are also required to have the relevant undergraduate degree (B.Sc. Honours, B.Sc. General, or other branches of science) of Delhi University or any other recognised University.
