MICAT 2013 Exam Pattern

The quantitative and Verbal sections from CAT/XAT/GMAT will be given 20% weightage each. The remaining weightage would be based on MICAT. One change that was introduced in MICAT 2012 was the omission of Verbal and Quantitative ability sections, since CAT already assesses these two abilities.

According to Dr. Anita Basalingappa, Chairperson – Admissions Committee, the exam pattern of MICAT 2013 would be almost like MICAT 2012, which had the following pattern:

Paper I
Part I - had questions related to reasoning and general awareness.
Part II- tested the written ability of the candidates. A topic was given and candidates had to write both for and against the topic. But in conclusion, one has to either support or oppose the motion. Not taking a stance would mean that one would not be marked for the essay writing.
The next question in this section was story writing. On the basis of pictures given in the question, candidates had to write a story.

Paper II
This section was basically a Psychometric Test. All the questions were compulsory.

Selection Process for MICA

Stage-I - MICA written Admissions Test (MICAT 2013)

All candidates who apply to MICA through CAT/XAT/GMAT irrespective of their score will be called for MICAT 2013, subject to their application form being complete and accepted by MICA.

The quantitative and Verbal sections from CAT/XAT/GMAT will be given 20% weightage each.
(NRI and foreign candidates will qualify for a direct teleconference-interview based on their GMAT performance, subject to rules & regulations of MICA).

Stage II - Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI)

This stage would consist of a series of interactions with candidates, on campus, to assess their suitability for the Communications Management industry. This does not require any prior preparation.

Candidates will be invited for Group Exercise and Personal Interview to MICA campus, Ahmedabad, based on their performance in MICAT and CAT/XAT/GMAT. The quantitative and Verbal sections from CAT/XAT/GMAT will be given 20% weightage each.
