Sir Ratan Tata Trust Post - Doctoral Fellowships

The Sir Ratan Tata Fellowship was instituted at the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi, during year 2000. Sir Ratan Tata Trust made available a deferred endowment grant to the Institute for creation of the Sir Ratan Tata Fund for the award of SRT Fellowships to young social scientists.

The Sir Ratan Tata Fellowship programme at the Institute is one of the very first Post-doctoral Fellowship Programmes in India that provides research scholars in the country with an opportunity to undertake post-doctoral research at an Institute of excellence within India. During the short span of its existence, the programme has contributed considerably to the objective of promoting quality post-doctoral research in the Social Sciences in India. During this period, seven fellows have availed of this scheme and the tenure of one Fellow is on-going.

Beginning October 2006, the Sir Ratan Tata Trust has converted the deferred grant into a permanent endowment at IEG for awarding Fellowships to Young Social Scientists from the Sir Ratan Tata Trust Endowment Fund.
