NIFT - Admission Process

The admissions to the undergraduate and post-graduate programmes of the institute take place on the basis of marks scored by the candidates in the written entrance test (General Ability Test, Creative Ability Test, Managerial Ability Test), Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The written entrance examination consists of questions which judge the knowledge, skill and aptitude of the candidates for the programme. But before taking a test, a candidate has to make sure that he/she is eligible as per the criteria laid down by the institute.

(A) Bachelors Programme Design

Passed the 10+2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination from any recognised Central/State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi etc.

or

General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.

or

Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in Foreign countries recognised by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.

or

A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.

or

3 or 4-years diploma recognised by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.

(B) Bachelor of Fashion Technology (Apparel Production)

A student desirous of pursuing Bachelor of Fashion Technology (Apparel Production) has to follow the same criteria as laid down by the institute for the students of Bachelors in Fashion designing. However, they must have passed the examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Master of Fashion Technology (Management)

To seek admission in this programme, a candidate need to have a Bachelor’s Degree from a institute recognised by the Association of Indian Universities or should have a Diploma in Accessory / Fashion Design / FIT from NIFT only.

For Bachelor’s Degree from institutes abroad, not recognised by the Association of Indian Universities, proper certification by a National Body constituted in the country concerned for granting equivalence will have to be produced.

Master of Fashion Technology (Apparel Production)

Those interested in pursuing a Masters course in Apparel Production from the institute need to be a B.E. or B.Tech. in Textiles / Apparel / Mechanical / Industrial / Production /Electronics / Computer / Information Technology.

Note : NIFT provides admission to foreign as well as NRI students. The criteria for seeking admission is same as laid for the Indian students.

Reservation of Seats

The institute reserves certain percentage of total seats in its courses for schedule caste, physically handicapped and foreign nationals. The percentage of seats reserved for such category is as follows
