English alphabets losing worth

Missin' g ???

Amitabh Bachchan in a movie Namak Haram said, "English is a very funny language". I agree with him. English has kept on evolving since ages and in India we follow Hinglish. I don't want to foray into that part of Indian creativity. My point is to explore the new language that Gen Next has crafted out of the proper written English.

"I was runnin' all alone in the joggin' park". This is what the present youth calls the 'in' mode of communication. Crisp, hip and above all a rockstar's language. Shortage of space in mobile and fast messaging- Eureka! A new lingo develops which is accepted world wide. Welcome to the world of – runnin', eatin', sleepin' and list is long. Wonder , why youth of today hold a grudge against 'g'. The most neglected and isolated of English  language is now this less privileged alphabet. The coveted position it used to enjoy in a verb of present continuous sentence  seems to have suddenly lost its enigma. The text slang is so often used that sometimes actually students write in exams.

Words which I reckon belong to higher rank in hierarchy of English language and also figure in socially ostracised things in a teenager's literature. 'You' replaced by 'u', are by 'r'(tchch, so 'ls' for a word) and the list is endless. The use of slangs might be an eroding force for the language but is a speedy way to communicate.

Being a part of this generation I see no harm using it too. As long as the text fulfils the function of conveying the message it will go long way. If I type " C u 2moro" it very well serves my purpose instead of writing the longer way. No doubt, structurally grammar and language has gone haywire. People of my Gen also believe that somehow its bad for the language but the shortcut has more utility. The thing  to be kept in mind is that it shoudn't hamper our vocabulary and written English. Ought to know the difference between both ways of writing and know where and when to use.

Whatever be the case, right now nothing can stop it from flourishing. As for the 'g' thing, presently, its buried in some graveyard where nobody even bothers to put flowers. But, I have strong conviction that it will bounce back and recapture its rightful position. In the meanwhile, check out this —

L8R G8R: See you later alligator
LOL: Laugh out loud
SHID: Slaps head in disgust.
A3: Anytime, anywhere, anyplace
