Career Option - 60 to 80 Percent in 12th Commerce


Are you expecting something between 60% and 80% in your 10+2 boards? Are you in a dilemma wondering which course or program would be the right choice for you? Are you confused whether to take up a professional course right now or concentrate on your BCom? Though you have scored a decent 80% in commerce, you want to discontinue with commerce but you are clueless about the courses that you can opt for?  We at NNE have compiled a list of options if you have scored between 60% and 80% in commerce.

BCom (Hons)
: If you want to pursue your career in commerce and interested in higher studies, then you should opt for BCom (Hons). You can pursue your post graduation ie. MCom after completing your graduation and increase your chances in the teaching profession, banking sector, financial organizations, export companies, and business houses, or you can even pursue an MBA in foreign trade or finance or even HR and marketing.

You can also pursue professional course like CA, CS or ICWA along with your BCom degree.
  • Eligibility: 10+2 from any stream. Cut-offs in this stream are extremely high but if you have scored around 80% your chances of getting through B.Com (H) are bright. For details, Click Here.

CA
: If you have taken up Commerce at the 10+2 level, one of the first careers that you probably must have thought of is Chartered Accountancy. Chartered Accountancy (CA) is one of the most highly sought after courses in India. It is also one of the most prestigious qualifications in accounting and finance degree.
  • Eligibility: If you have passed 10+2 from any stream you are eligible to apply for the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) which is essential for the Foundation Course.

ICWA:
Cost Accountancy is another good combination with a BCom degree that a commerce student with 60% to 80% can explore. The Institute of Cost and works Accountants of India (ICWAI) promotes, regulates, and develops the profession of Cost Accountancy in India. 
  • Eligibility: A student from any stream after having passed the 10+2 examination is eligible to appear for the Foundation Course. For details, Click Here.

CS:
A Company Secretary (CS) plays a vital role in the company’s management. A Company Secretary is expected to take crucial decisions regarding legal matters, tax, finance, excise laws, corporate laws, labour laws and corporate planning. He is the most important link connecting the shareholders, regulatory agencies and the board of directors.

Law:
Did you know that even from the Commerce stream you can pursue a career in Law? If you have analyzing, advocating and counseling skills, then law should be a good choice for you.
Course: BA LLB is a five year integrated program for students who wish to pursue a career in law. You can even pursue a three year LLB course after your HSC as well. Other than the traditional jobs of a criminal or a civil lawyer, you can also specialize in cyber laws, Environment and Consumer Protection Laws and Intellectual Property Laws.
  • Eligibility: You should have passed the 10+2 examination with minimum 50% marks in aggregate for being eligible to appear for Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). CLAT is conducted for admission to the undergraduate program for the eleven National Law Universities across India. For details, Click Here.

BA (Hons.) Business Economics/ B.Com.(with specialization in Business Economics)


Do you have an interest in economics and wish to learn more about trade and commerce? A course in Business Economics is an option which you must explore.
  • Course: A bachelors degree in Business Economics will cover subjects like Economics, Statistics, Quantitative Techniques, Finance, International Trade, Computers and Environmental Economics. This is a three years professional course which will help you with employment opportunities in corporate houses, NGO’s and research institutions and also to enable you to pursue higher studies in Economics, Management and Finance.
  • Eligibility:
10+2 with 55% and English and Mathematics as core subjects
Some universities in India like the University of Delhi admit students on the basis of an admission test. Some universities like Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda admit students based on the marks obtained at the 10+2 level, provided you have either of the following subjects:

• Economics
• Accounts
• Business Mathematics
• Statistics

BA / BSc Economics
: A commerce student who has passed 10+2 with mathematics as one of the subjects can also opt for BA or BSc Economics. Some universities like the University of Delhi offer a BA degree while others like the University of Mumbai and the University of Calcutta offer a BSc degree.
  • Course: Economics is one of the sought after courses in India today. A degree a Economics can open up opportunities in investment firms, public sector undertakings, government enterprises and NGOs. You should do your post graduation to improve your career prospects and can even take up research options in government organizations or join as a lecturer in a university or college. If you have a knack for writing you can also work as a business or an economic writer in business journals and newspapers.

BCA
: Do you want to permanently bid good-bye to commerce but wondering what to take up next?  Then Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) is a good choice, if you have a technical bent of mind.
  • Course: Bachelor of Computer Science (BCA) is a three year degree course concentrating primarily on programming languages.
  • Eligibility: 10+2 with a minimum of 50% aggregate from any stream. Entrance tests are conducted in individual colleges for admission to BCA courses.

B.Sc.(H) Computer Science
: Are you also debating an option of trying something different from commerce but have a love for mathematics?  Then why don’t you try a course in Computer Science? BSc in Computer Science and then a higher degree would open various opportunities in the IT sector, banks, and even research options.
  • Eligibility: 10+2 from any stream with 60% or more marks in Mathematics and 55% or more marks in aggregate of four subjects including mathematics. For details, Click Here.

BBA
: If you have Mathematics and English as core subjects, then Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is also a good option for you.
  • Course: It is a three year degree course which is designed to impart management education and inculcate entrepreneurship skills in a student.
  • Eligibility: 10+2 from any stream with Mathematics and English as core subjects and a minimum aggregate of 50%. You need to sit for entrance exams conducted by different colleges offering BBA program. For details, Click Here.

BA Hons (English):
If you love reading and writing and want to divert to a totally different field, then English honors is a very good choice for you. English Literature will open up doors for journalism as well and you can continue higher studies and join a university or college as a lecturer.
  • Eligibility: You have to pass 10+2 with a minimum aggregate of 50%. Many universities hold entrance tests for admission to English Hons courses. For example, Delhi University holds Combined Aptitude Test for English (CATE) for admission in various colleges. Colleges in Calcutta like Presidency College, St Xaviers and Lady Brabourne also hold entrance tests for admission to English Hons courses.

    HELLO SIR, I HAVE PASSED 12TH WITH 55%IN 2012. I WANT TO GO FOR MBBS ,BUT NOW I AM WAITING FOR MHT-CET RESULT.IF I WOULD NOT BE ELIGIBLE THEN ,I WANT TO ABOUT VARIOUS BEST COURSES IN BIOLOGY,AND I AM VERY INTRESTED IN BIOLOGY.PLZ REPLY SOON.

    Hello,i gt 77 % in 12th..the marks r above 75 in all sub. except bio,in bio gt 64..i wanna do Genetic engg. 4 dat i should cmpplt my degree 1st????then 4 bsc wich subjects r required??i mean in which subject i hv 2 do bsc??plz..reply asap..

    I live in kolkata. I ranked 70000 in wbjee, and 12000 in wbjexpo, my HS results will be declared on 28th may2012,kindly guide me what career shall i choose in kolkata or outside kolkata interested in to go for engg. or academics in science.
