THE INSTITUTE OF UNITED NATIONS STUDIES was established in the year 1969 as Department of Indian Federation of United Nations Associations, under the Chairmanship of Dr. Nagendera Singh, ICS, who was later on elevated to the position of President of the International Court of Justice, The Hague. The institute conducts a six months Correspondence course on United Nations and International Understanding, to impart knowledge about United Nations and its various organs, its structure, organization, aims and ideals as envisaged in UN Charter. On successful completion of the Correspondence Course, Diploma is awarded to successful students. Diploma offered by the Institute is academic certification on the competence in the subject. The course has received high accolade at the national and international forums. The President of World Federation of United Nations Associations has appreciated this Correspondence Course.

The Indian Federation of United  Nations Associations (IFUNA) is engaged in promoting aims, objectives and activities of the United Nations and its Specialized Agencies. IFUNA is affiliated to The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA), Geneva. IFUNA is having special Consultative Status with the ECOSOC of the United Nations.

 

Objectives of this course :-

  • To impart basic knowledge about United Nations and its Specialized Agencies.
  • To develop awareness of the aims, objectives and ideals of the United Nations.
  • To simulate people’s participation in programs, activities and achievements  of the United Nations.
  • To promote research, information, communication and education about the goals enunciated in the Charter of the United Nations.
  • To create interest of youths in United Nations System and its role in establishing world peace and harmony among nations.

The course is designed to impart knowledge about the United Nations history and its working organs, its Specialized Agencies, Programs and Functional Commissions. The course is divided in two parts – Compulsory Subjects and Optional Subjects. The Students have to attempt two papers of Compulsory Subject and four papers from the Optional Subjects, the students will have to select optional subject at the time of enrolment. The students shall attempt all papers in their own handwriting. The minimum educational qualification for admission is 10+2 or equivalent examination. The students are required to submit certificate of their qualification along with proof of their identity such as VOTER ID / PASSPORT COPY / DRIVING LICENCE / AADHAR CARD / IDENTITY CARD issued by recognized University or Institutions.The total course fee is Rs. 15,000/- and can be paid in two equal installments i.e. sum Rs. 7,500/- in each.

 

People from all walk of life interested to acquire detailed knowledge about the Constitutional setup and the working of the United Nations and Specialized Agencies are welcome to join the course. This course is very popular among students who are keen to join vast United Nations System, Embassies, Governments of Foreign Affairs, International Organizations  or in the organizations working for the United Nations. The duration of the course is six months.
