Apart form offering regular class room programs the varsity also offers few correspondence courses. The university’s Department of Distance Education offers courses on legal studies through distance mode. The courses offered now have been designed to include not only the study of the conventional subject taught in Law Colleges but also subjects which are gaining importance in the developing scenario of the Country. This approach is intended to enable an aspirant to acquaint himself with legal knowledge and to further that legal knowledge in his career in a developing nation. At present the department is offering one certificate programs, 7 postgraduate diploma programs and one bachelor program in legal studies. The admission to these programs is done by filing the Application Form by the University along with the required enclosures and a Demand Draft for the total amount payable. The name of the candidate will be registered and admission will be granted provisionally for the course applied for. The University shall supply study material prepared by subject experts approved by the University and which will be instrumental for learning. These materials will be supplied either immediately on admission or when the first Personal Contact Programme is conducted. The University shall arrange the conduct of Personal Contact Programmes as may be decided by the University Authorities. The Personal Contact Programme may be held either at Chennai or in any other place within Tamil Nadu, which shall be decided based on the total no. of candidates joining the course from one place. The Personal Contact Programme will be settled by the Director, Department of Distance Education and the candidates will be informed suitably and well in advance.
