Career Options after Class 12th

AIFD Entrance Exam - Eligibility Criteria

PG Programs-Duration 2 Years (40 seats each)
  • PG Diploma in Fashion Design - Any Degree or equivalent.
  • PG Diploma in Apparel Merchandising and Logistics Management- Any Degree or equivalent.
UG Programs-Duration 3 Years (60 seats)
  • B.Sc. Fashion and Apparel Design (Affiliated to Bangalore University).
Short term courses
  • Diploma in Fashion Design (1 year- duration, Day & Evening Course) – 10th standard.  
  • Diploma in Industrial Pattern Making for Men & Women Wear (1 year- duration, Evening Course) – 10th standard. 
  • Diploma in Fashion Retailing (1 year- duration, Evening Course) - 10+2 or equivalent.
  • Diploma in Merchandising & Logistics Management (1 year- duration, Evening Course) - 10+2 or equivalent.
Certificate Course in Fashion Design (6 Months – duration) - 10th

Other Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for admission to AIFD are depicted below:

  • Should be a ward of one of the following: 
    1. Serving Army personnel.
    1. Serving medical officers of IN and IAF who have served in the Army for more than 10 yrs and are members of AOBF.
    1. Retired Army pers in receipt of regular pension, or former Army pers who retired after min service of 10 yrs.
    1. Former Army pers who died during service / after retirement and family pension is granted.
    1. TA pers who have completed 10 yrs of embodied service.
    1. DSC pers who are serving or retired with pension.
  • War widows (in receipt of liberalized pension) and children in receipt of family pension (due to death of both parents) are also eligible.
  • In case of adopted child, the ward should have been adopted atleast for five years before applying for admission.
  • Should be minimum graduates, or appeared for degree exam, at the time of applying for admission to AIFD. Minimum acceptable marks in are 50%.
  • Must be an Indian citizen, or a PIO who obtains Indian citizenship before admission.
Limited seats for Civilians and wards of other defence establishments.
