MindSpark 2017 - College of Engineering, Pune
College Of Engineering, Pune(COEP) is poised to host one of the largest technical festivals in the country, MindSpark 2017. A student's initiative, it is a platform to bring together some of the sharpest engineering minds in the country.
Since its inception in 2007, MindSpark, COEP's annual national technical festival has grown to become one of the most coveted events in the country, receiving a footfall of over 20,000 during its last edition. The fest is now under the patronage of Indian National Commission for cooperation with UNESCO, Digital India, Make in India and Startup India.
The 2017 Edition
MindSpark will be held on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of September 2017.
After 10 successful editions, MindSpark is embarking on its 11th edition this year with many new and exciting events lined up. The theme this year is “Towards Techno-Utopia”, an effort towards achieving an ideal society with the help of progressive technology. The festival has over 50 events, catering to all disciplines of engineering as well as non-technical events, all highlighting this one theme.
This year sees the pilot edition of the technical exhibition, showcasing fresh talent and resourceful engineering. The three days of MindSpark will witness a wide array of start-ups, displaying their ideas and inventions to the masses.
Paakhi,a social initiative of MindSpark aims at empowering women. On 9th& 10th September, during the dates assigned to Paakhi, COEP trained underprivileged women on perfume making, sugandhiutane making, candle making, agarbatti making, etc as means of self-sustenance.
This year, attendees can look forward to a cultural night, the local train pro-night, Imagica set-up, keynotes from R. Chidambaram and Sonam Wangchuk (real life Phunsuk Wangadu) and much more!
Event structure of MindSpark’17
In its 11th edition, MindSpark will consist of 52 events divided into 12 innovative modules. MindSpark’17 will focus on transforming past technologies leading to a better future. The events MindSpark is hosting includes:
Blydan: COEP's flagship event which urges budding minds to create the perfect world with the help of innovative technology.
Structura: A module dedicated entirely to civil engineers and planning enthusiasts with events dedicated to civil engineering and design skills with a focus on sustainable development.
Silicus: Aimed at coding fanatics, it has a variety of events including one which tests participants' reverse engineering skills, and their ability to find logic in disconnected entities.
Dynamus: For mechanical and production students, this module tests their abilities to the hilt.
Voltus: Circuits on your mind? This module is aimed at circuit-obsessed brainiacs.
Robustus: The module provides participants a chance to play with clever technology via events such as Robowars, Dogfight, Bot Wrestling, Search N Destroy, and Virtual Robotics.
Collatio: As one of the few elite technical institutes offering metallurgical engineering, this module was a given. It is specially designed for applied science enthusiasts.
Prodigium: A module entirely dedicated to nurture young minds and encourage them to develop an engineering bent of mind.
Fascinus: The non-technical among the participants can participate in The Amazing Race, Bull Run, Bidzkrieg 1 and 2, Flash- for photography buffs and LAN Slam- for those who enjoy competitive Counter Strike gaming.
Illuminati: A module dedicated to the quizzers, it consists of a sci-tech quiz, Pune’s largest open quiz Chakravyuh, and a national level quiz.
Cognito: The workshop module which offers a golden opportunity for enthusiasts of various disciplines to learn more.
The brightest spark of the technical extravaganza will certainly be the Keynote lectures by eminent leaders from diverse fields who will enlighten the younger crowd and inspire them to aspire in life.
