Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) - Introduction

The Government of India established Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, IIMK in 1996. It provides education, training, and consulting and research facilities in management. IIMK is located at Kozhikode, in Kerala (southwestern India), a location made famous by the entry of Vasco Da Gama into India. The Institute operates from its own, newly constructed campus, in the scenic ambience of approximately 100 acres in the Kunnamangalam locality of Kozhikode.

Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode seeks to achieve excellence and a leadership position in management education.

Programs

IIMK is dedicated to offering world-class programmes in management education. Its academic programmes encompass a range of long term full time diploma programmes such as the Post Graduate Programme in Management, and a number of short duration executive education programmes.

The Institute is today leader in Faculty Development Programmes (FDP), conducting largest number of programmes (18) totaling 20 weeks in 2008-09, and is the major QIP (Quality Improvement Programme) Centre of the All Indian Council of Technical Education, in the field of management education.

The Institute also started taking Consulting Assignments which crossed Rs. 10 million mark in 2007.

IIMK is also one of the few Centres for Development of Digital Libraries in the world and is a leader in the country.

Starting in 1997 with a batch of 42 students in its Postgraduate Programme (PGP) , it increased PGP intake to 120 in 2003, 180 in 2005 and to 261 in 2008, thus making it the fastest growing management school in the country to reach that landmark. This was done keeping the quality of the programme high, as the Institute continued to maintain its sound placement record, ranking among the top 5 institutes in the country in 2008.
