Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIML) - Introduction

Situated at the outskirts of the historic and culturally rich city of Lucknow, the Indian Institute of Management (IIML), was established in 1984, by the Government of India, as a national level school of excellence in management science.
 
IIML 's mission is to be a global, socially conscious and integrated school of management, contributing towards management development, both in India and abroad. Towards this, IIML undertakes a diverse range of academic activities and interventions aimed at creation, dissemination, and application of management knowledge and practices. These include : the Post Graduate Programme; the Fellow Programme; the Management Development Programme; Research Programmes; and Consulting Programmes. IIML is also entering into collaborative arrangements with leading business schools and research centres in India, Europe, Canada, South and Southeast Asia.

The Institute has state-of-the-art computing and class-room facilities, supported by an extensive library of books, journals, films, and databases.

The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIML) fourth among IIM sibling came into existence in 1984. The Government of India at Lucknow the capital of Uttar Pradesh established the institute.

Satellite Campus
The IIML is the first among IIM family to establish a satellite campus at Noida. The satellite campus of IIM-L at Noida is being developed as centre of excellence in the area of executive education.

Programs
The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow offers several courses of one and two year duration, namely Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP- 2 year), PGP in Agribusiness Management (2 year), One year PGP in Business Management for working managers (WMP), One year International Programme in Management for Executives (IPMX).

Doctoral programme at IIML has been designed to offer an exclusive opportunity to those willing to expand their horizon in management education. The IIM-L has started offering doctoral programme from 2000-2001. Students having bona-fide degree with work experience are offered admission to the doctoral programme at IIML. Students seeking admission to the doctoral programme should not be more than 45 years of age at the time of admission.

International Programme in Management for Executives offered by IIML at its Noida campus. This programme was started in April 2008. This programme has especially been designed for mid and senior level professionals, to prepare them for leadership roles.

Student Exchange Programme facility is also available at IIM Lucknow to make students world-class professionals.

Admission
Admission to the flagship programme of the IIML i.e. Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) is offered on the basis of score obtained by students in the Common Admission Test (CAT) held in November every year. Short listed candidates are invited for Group Discussion and Personal interview. Student’s academic record is also taken into consideration for the admission. Students having work experience in the relevant field is given weightage to PGP at IIM-L.

Working professionals or executives willing to enhance their managerial ability can enroll at IIM-L in a three year Post Graduate Programme in Business Management.

Students of the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow has initiated an entrepreneurship cell named ‘Abhiyan’ in 1999 to develop a good network of valuable mentors around the world, including successful entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, & professionals.
