Indian CandidatesCandidates seeking admission to the PGP must have a 3-year Bachelor's degree in any discipline or equivalent recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as eligible for further studies.
The Indian Institutes of Management Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta and Lucknow through the Common Admission Test (CAT) conduct admission to the programme jointly. Applications for admission are invited in August and written admission Test is conducted in December of the preceding year for the programme commencing in end-June/beginning-July every year.
The selection procedure, besides taking into account the academic achievements of the applicant, also aims at assessing his/her potential for a management career. Consequently, a multi-criteria selection model incorporating scholastic achievements, work experience and performance in written test, group discussion and personal interview is used in selecting students for the programme.
Twenty two and a half per cent of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) candidates who meet the admission requirements.
OverseasForeign candidates residing in India at the time of Common Admission Test (CAT) must take the full range of tests prescribed under CAT. Foreign candidates residing abroad are required to submit their GMAT scores along with their applications giving complete academic records and details of professional experience. All applications for admission from foreign nationals must be routed through the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India with a copy sent directly to the Institute. Indian nationals residing abroad (NRIs) must send their GMAT scores along with their applications for admission.
