GATE 2014

Updated on: Oct 9, 2013

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an entrance examination and scholarship test held by the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) creates procedures for postgraduate admissions. GATE 2014 is being organized by IIT Kharagpur.

The GATE 2014 examination will identify candidates for admission to postgraduate programs in engineering (Masters degree program, both Master of Technology (M.Tech) and Master of Engineering (M.E.), technology, architecture, science and related disciplines at the national level. On the basis of GATE scores, candidates may take admission into postgraduate engineering and sciences programs. The score may also be valid for admission to doctoral degree programs. Some public sector undertakings (PSUs) accept GATE scores for screening potential salaried employees for jobs. GATE does not provide information on employment, check other reliable sources for employment information.

Non-GATE qualified candidates may apply for doctoral degree programs with the necessary postgraduate qualifications in engineering sciences. The MHRD offers scholarships and assistantships to GATE-qualified candidates. Many institutes and universities request the GATE score for admission to fellowship and research programs.
