IITs Hub Indian Institutes of Technology

IITs or Indian Institutes of Technology were set up in India to augment technical education in the country and also encourage research activities among the students. The first IIT was established in 1950 in Hijli, Kharagpur. Today, there are 7 important IITs running full-time programs in various disciplines in engineering, humanities and social sciences and management.

New IITs

The Ministry of HRD, Government of India has approved the setting up of 8 more new IITs to cater to increasing demand of quality engineers and professionals in our country. These new IITs are in the process of building their own infrastructure with state-of-the art facilities. In the meantime, each one of them is being mentored by the existing IITs.
