IIT Guwahati Campus and Hostel

The study programmes offered at IIT Guwahati are residential in nature and hence the institute offers hostel facilities for both boys and girls. The accommodation is single seater. The hostel rooms of IIT Guwahati, equipped with all modern amenities, offer best living and learning environment Students get all the things of use within the campus and they do not require going outside to fulfill their daily needs. A round-the-clock canteen is in operation to cater to the needs of the students.

Campus Life

Situated on the banks of the beautiful and mighty river Brahmaputra, the IIT Guwahati campus is the latest addition to the IIT fraternity. Having been started just in the year 1994 - this campus is still in the development stage. It is located on the northern banks of the Brahmaputra River in the area known as North Guwahati and also as Amingaon.Surrounded with green hills all around the entire locality has got a beautiful landscape.

The campus is just half a kilometer away from the National Highway 37 and few kilometers from the Saraighat Bridge(Brahmaputra bridge). The locality is fast developing as an industrial hub, the latest addition is a beautiful stadium which has just come up nearby for the National Games going be held soon.

The faculty, staff members and the students reside in premises equipped with all the modern facilities and utilities. Guest to the faculties and students stay in institute's guest house.

Students stay in single seated hostel rooms and have good access to sporting (both outdoor and indoor) and recreational facilities. A 24 hour canteen facilities is also available for serving food and snacks. The campus also has a commercial complex and a Dispensary to cater to the additional needs of the student and staff members.

A Kendriya Vidyalaya from primary to class 10th is also there for teaching the wards of faculty and staff members.

The Gymkhana, a hub for entertainment, excitement and education arranges for cultural activities like Alcheringa and Techniche, and SpicMacay. The students take active participation in these events.

Alumni
The institute aims to maintain good linkage with its pass outs and hence has a dedicated alumni office consisting of dedicated team and runs under Dean, Alumni Affairs and International Programmes.
