IIT Guwahati - Special Courses

IIT Guwahati like the other IITs also offer special courses on Quality Improvement and Energy Technology.
  • Quality Improvement Programme (QIP)

    The Institute started Quality Improvement Program since 2003–04. The programme has three components, viz-
    • M.E/M.Tech. and Ph.D. Degree Programmes
    • Short Term Courses
    • Curriculum Development
    The quality improvement programme is offered under the sponsorship of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

  • Center for Energy

    The Center for Energy of IIT Guwahati, imparts teaching, conducts research and provides consultancy in various facets of energy systems. The Center has definite plans to graduate to a threshold level where from it is able to play a meaningful role in combating the energy crisis. The center mainly emphasizes on bio-energy, small hydro powers, solar photovoltaic and solar thermal power. Apart from these, the center is to develop facilities in the area of alternative fuels, clean coal technology, wind power, energy integration and conservation (Energy Audit) in process plants. The center offers Ph.D. in Energy Technology.

  • Center for Environment

    The aim of the center is to promote interdisciplinary research and development, impart post graduate education, create public awareness, provide consultancy and to train manpower for mitigating environmental problems.

  • Center for Nano Technology

    The Centre for Nano Technology at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati started in the year 2004. The Centre is highly motivated towards frontier research in nanotechnology. The Nano Technology is a multidisciplinary science and hence faculty from different departments takes part in Nano Technology research and development. The Centre also offers PhD programme.
