The Deccan Education Society was set up with the vision of India’s great knowledge architects: Father of Indian Unrest and an astute lawyer Lokmanya Shri. Bal Gangadhar Tilak, the doyen of Marathi literature, Shri. Vishnushastri Chiplunkar and the great social reformers Shri. Gopal Ganesh Agarkar and Shri. Mahadev Ballal Namjoshi. These Indian visionaries came together to give the people of the country an educational Institute and the dream of a better future.

Today, the society’s DES Law College has found place in the list of top 25 law schools in the country owing to its academic excellence. The college is one of the oldest law institutes in the country offering undergraduate courses in Law. Apart from offering undergraduate courses viz. LLB. Or B.S.L LL.B., the DES Law College also offers few Diploma courses for law aspirants.

Programs & Eligibility

D.E.S Law College, offers various Graduate, Diploma and Certificate Courses under the auspices of Pune University. The programme is liable to change if required under new rules, directions or regulations made hereafter by the University of Pune, State Government and/or College Authorities.

Program: B.S.L LL.B. – Five years integrated course (semester pattern)

Eligibility: For admission to the B.S.L LL.B (5 Year Law Course) the eligibility required is Class XIIth or an equivalent with minimum 40% marks for candidates belonging to S.C / S.T. and 45% marks for others.

Program: LLB. – 3 years degree course (semester pattern)

Eligibility: To be eligible for admission for LL.B. a candidate must be a graduate of any faculty of any University whose degree is recognized to be equivalent to the corresponding degree of Pune University.The candidate should have secured minimum 40% marks for candidates belonging to S.C. / S.T. and 45% marks for others.


Program: Dip. in Taxation Laws

Eligibility: To be eligible for admission, a candidate must be a graduate of any faculty of any university whose degree is recognized to be equivalent to the corresponding degree of Pune University. The candidate should have secured minimum 40% marks for candidates belonging to S.C. / S.T. and 45% marks for others.

Program: Certificate Course in Forensic and Medicine Jurisprudence

Eligibility: To be eligible for admission, a candidate must be a graduate of any faculty of any University whose degree is recognized to be equivalent to the corresponding degree of Pune University. The candidate should have secured minimum 40% marks for candidates belonging to S.C. / S.T. and 45% marks for others.

Admission Procedure

• Admission to the courses will be based on merit and interviews.

• Admissions are at the sole discretion of the Management Committee of the college; which is to be confirmed further by the Principal and Admission Committee.

• All admissions are provisional and are subject to sanction of eligibility by University of Pune.

• Foreign students seeking admission to this college should contact the International Student Canter cell at the University of Pune for obtaining a letter of admission. Admissions to foreign students will be granted after producing a letter of admission issued by the University of Pune.
