Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is the statutory university established by the Govt. of Gujarat under the Gujarat National Law University Act, 2003. GNLU strives to contribute to the fulfillment of the goals of social justice as laid down in the Constitution of India. It also strives to further the best national interests and improve National legal standards to competitive international levels. Admission to B.A., LL.B. (Honours), B.Sc., LL.B. (Honours) and B.Com. LL.B. (Honours) is purely based on merit, mainly assessed through an all India Common Law Admission test – CLAT.

Program:BA LL.B. (Hons) Eligibility: The admission shall be based exclusively on the performance in the Common Law Admission Test. However, to qualify for admission the candidate must fulfill (i) He/she must have passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) or an examination equivalent thereof, securing in aggregate not less than 50% in all the core subjects and English put together. (ii) He/she must not have completed 20 years of age as on 1st July 2008. In the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category, the age limit will be 22 years as on 1st July 2008. All those who have appeared in the qualifying examinations are entitled to write the Admission Test. However any candidate securing less than 50% in the qualifying examination will be denied admission notwithstanding his rank in the Admission Test. Program: LL.M. Eligibility: A candidate should have secured a LL.B. degree from a recognized University, having obtained not less than 50% marks in the aggregate. Candidates in the final year of their LL.B. course can also apply but their admission would be confirmed only after they submit LL.B. results with the required 50% marks in the aggregate.
The GNLU, Gandhinagar follows a semester system under which the academic year is divided into two parts and six subjects are taught in each semester for B.A.LL.B. Program. Similarly, the LL.M. (General) programme comprises study of the six compulsory courses and four courses in the area of optional subjects and a dissertation prepared during fourth semester. The system is devised in such a way as to offer number of specializations. The core subjects which all students have to study are: Jurisprudence and Legal Theory Comparative Constitutional Law Law of Obligations Research Methodology and Practicals The specializations would be offered in the area of Criminology, International Law and Intellectual Property Rights.
