Question PapersCAT 2010 is just round the corner. CAT 2010 would be a computer based test to be held between Wednesday, 27 October 2010 and Wednesday, 24 November 2010. Following is a list of important information for all CAT aspirants of 2010.
CAT Notification
CAT 2010 notification appeared in leading newspapers on Sunday, 22 August 2010. Click here for the official notification.
Format of CAT
The format of CAT remains the same except that it would be a computer based test (CBT). Please note that it would not be an internet based test. In other words, instead of answering the questions in a paper booklet and darkening the circles on the answer-sheet, you will read the questions on a computer and choose an answer by clicking on the correct option.
CAT Test Date
CAT will be held between Wednesday, 27 October 2010 and Wednesday, 24 November 2010. You can choose a test date, session (morning/afternoon), and venue across thirty centers across India.
CAT Bulletin
IIMs wish to go paperless from this time and you need to purchase a scratch-voucher from the designated bank branches, and later register online for CAT 2010.
Scratch Voucher
The CAT 2010 Vouchers can be obtained from the selected branches of Axis Bank during the period from Monday, 30 August 2010 to Monday 27 September 2010 for Rs. 1400/- (Rs. 700/- for SC/ST candidates). Please note that a candidate needs to buy only one CAT 2010 Voucher irrespective of the number of institutes he/she is applying to.
Registering for CAT 2010
On purchasing the CAT 2010 Voucher, prospective candidates must log on to the website www.catiim.in to register for CAT 2010.
The registration window opens on Monday, 30 August 2010 and will close on Thursday, 30 September 2010.
Taking the CAT
You can only take the test at selected test venues in 33 cities across India. You can register to take the test only once during the CAT 2010 testing window. Your admit cards and picture will be checked, and your picture and biometric information will also be captured at the test venue.
Calculations and rough work
You would be provided with a writing pad for calculations and rough work. However, after you complete the test you will have to keep the writing pad behind. Note that you would not be allowed to do the rough work on any other sheet.
Test Fee of CAT 2010
The test fee is 1400 (Rs. 700 for SC/ST candidates). For more details you need to wait for the advertisements which will appear in all leading papers and on the website.
Admit Card
After you have successfully completed the form and submitted the registration online, you will receive an email containing your Admit Card.
E-mail account
You must have a valid E-mail account which would be used for all official communication throughout the selection process. Only one e-mail address would be registered during the process.
Things required at the time of the test
You must bring the printed copy of the admit card, one picture ID, and any other ID not necessarily with a picture. No personal belongings would be allowed in the test-hall.
CAT 2010 Results
CAT 2010 results will be declared on 12 January 2011.

hey, i just wanted to knw if there is any criteria for sitting for the CAT exam or admissions to the IIM's... as in if i have a correspondence evening degree, will i be eligible??

The CAT test and going to school for that matter will not necessarily land you a better job or better quality of life. It matters who you know and what you know, and how much work you are willing to put in. If I want to buy wow gold then I will, to save time.

I hav an overall percentage of 62% in B.tech-ECE.. Currently working in Accenture as Graduate Engineering Trainee..Have an experience of 1 yr..Goin to give CAT-2012..My ques- Even if I score above 90-92% in CAT, will I get a call from IIT's or any college from top 50 B-schools?Even if I get the call, will I stand any chance in their PI sessions??
