TISS 2012 - The Tata Institute of Social Sciences was established in 1936. It is the first school of social work in India. TISS was a pioneering effort, characteristic of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT). Its establishment was the result of the decision of the Trustees of the SDTT to accept Dr. Clifford Manshardt’s vision of a post-graduate school of social work of national stature that would engage in a continuous study of Indian social issues and problems and impart education in social work to meet the emerging need for trained human power. This subsequently influenced the direction of social work education and social research in India.

It was earlier known as Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work but it was renamed as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in the year of 1944. The year 1964 was an important landmark in the history of the Institute, when it was recognized as a Deemed University by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India.

Since then, the TISS has been expanding continuously in terms of educational programs and infrastructure. While responding to the changing needs of the social and educational system in the country, the Institute has gone far beyond the initial concern of social work education.

And now the institute has offering various programs in different streams like health and hospital administration, human resource management, personnel management, research methodology and so on. But the program of Master of Health Administration & Master of Hospital Administration is very popular among the students.

If you are a TISS applicant, you can download application forms from the TISS website or purchase it from the TISS counter.

TISS 2012 Application Forms can be obtained

• By sending a request letter to the Deputy Registrar (Gen. Admn.) of the Institute along with a Demand Draft in favour of “The Registrar, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai”, and payable at Mumbai. This should be accompanied with a self-addressed and stamped cloth lined envelope.

• By downloading the Application Form from the TISS Website: www.tiss.edu (please note that while submitting the downloaded Application Form, it should be accompanied by a Demand Draft, towards the application processing fee)
  

• Form can be available at the Counter at TISS, against cash payment. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates need not pay for the Application Form and Information Brochure. For more details Click Here

TISS 2012 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for admission to various postgraduate programs is a bachelor's degree with atleast 15 years of formal education. If you wish to take admission to any of the master's program, you need to be atleast a graduate along with the specific requirements of the individual program. For more details Click Here

TISS 2012 Programs

TISS Short Term Programs

Application forms for short-term programmes are available on the website and the candidates are informed about the interview schedules through call letters. The interviews for these programmes are usually held in the month of June. For program details Click Here.
