Personnel Management

Personnel Management is the study of management system of any business enterprise and it employees. Though now-a-days the terms "human resource management" and "human resources" (HR) have largely taken over the term "personnel management" as an explanation of the processes involved in managing people in the organization.

Personnel Management plays an integral part in the management of any business organization. It deals with the management of programs, events, and systems which improve the efficiency of the organization's economic value.  Personnel management aims at establishing a better coordination between the staff members (from senior level to junior level) to have better co-operation, better focus to bring out innovative ideas, their objectives, understanding in the enterprise. Basically, personnel management is responsible for both- the employee’s growth along with the smooth functioning of the enterprise. Determining company policies and procedures as they relate to personnel is another important aspect of the personnel management process.

One aspect of the organization why they need effective personnel management is the drafting of the company's handbook. Before the handbook is ready for use a lot need to be done such as establishing operation policies and procedures, requirements for employment, commendation and disciplinary procedures, and even something as simple as a dress code needs to be worked upon. Personnel managers and the HR staff are ideal for drafting and assessment of the company handbook.
