While most management institutes offer specializations in spheres like finance, marketing or strategy, this higher education centre's focus is completely different. Established in 1979, the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA) concentrates on the issue of management of social development in rural areas. One of the leading management institutes of the country, it aims to create management professionals for rural organizations.

IRMA was founded by the famous Dr. Verghese Kurien of the National Dairy Development Board (NDBB), in collaboration with SDC, Gujarat Government and Government of India.

Fellow Program in Rural Management (FPRM) 3 years - 7 years

Admission Procedure & Eligibility Criteria

  • One must be a graduate with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks to be eligible to apply.
  • IRMA accepts CAT 2016 scores for the selection procedure for admission to the PRM 2016-2018 batch & FPRM 2016 batch.
  • Overseas applicants can apply to PRM 2016-18 on the basis of their GMAT or GRE score (not taken before 01 July 2011).
  • Short listed candidates will then have to appear for a written test on "Issues of Social Concern."
  • The final selection is made on the basis of a group activity and a personal interview (PI).

IRMA's Test

IRMA's test on "Issues of Social Concern (ISC)" will be an online examination consisting of 40 questions. The duration of the test will be 1 hour, 20 minutes.

The medium of questions will be English and the question type will be multiple choice with five options (MCQs.) There will be negative marking for wrong answers.

The questions in the test will be designed to test your basic understanding of all relevant social issues and ability to analyze and take a stand on conflicting socio-economic goals, objectives and demands. The test intends to test your awareness of current national issues and topics of social relevance in present-day India.
